These are the side rails of Joshua’s bed. When I painted his bed the first time years ago, I thought these were fake wood. They’re not, though! They’re real wood, and they were just covered in a fake wood grain sort of material (which came off with some sanding). So, now some lovely wood grain is showing through, and I love that.

I love wood. My MIL is always painting things white and they look nice, I would rather see wood, even if it is marked and dented. I just like wood and stained wood. My husband and I spend hours and hours while we were dating taking all this gunk off this huge oak desk from the 1930s that he bought at an antique shop. I would come over to visit him and we would go scrap away another layer. But now it looks amazing!! I actually use it as my sewing table right now. YAY!!
