Saving Seeds

in Plants

These are the pods from my hyacinth bean vine (a beautiful, super-frugal, super easy to grow plant!).  I had to pull the dead vines down so that we could put lights around our mailbox, and as always, I pulled off the pods before discarding the vines.  Inside each pod are several beans, which I’ll save to plant in the spring.

For some reason, last year my vines didn’t produce a ton of seeds, so I’m thrilled to have so many this year.

What about offering some of these seeds as a give away? I bet there are lots of us who would love to have a few pods and try growing this plant!

That’s a good idea! I’ll wait for them to dry and then package some up to give away.

I’d be happy to take some off your hands. I’ll even commit to sharing next year’s seeds.

I second Libby’s motion. I can even offer a seed trade. I save seeds all the time, all sorts.
