How could you tell? 
The spiral bound notebooks are kind of a pain because the paper is recyclable but the wire is not. So, I tasked my kids with pulling the notebooks apart. Fortunately, I had the sense to send them outside, because this is a messy proposition (this is only a small sampling…my deck looked like it had been sprinkled with confetti!).

how do you store the paper? do you also cut the rough edges off?
