Know what’s surprising in this picture?

Joshua is wearing a plaid shirt.

Which he picked out himself.

This may not seem very surprising to you.  But that’s because you don’t know that for most of his life, Joshua has been staunchly opposed to any clothing with more than two colors (even two colors was a bit of a stretch), and he’s been even more dead-set against plaid.

I was so surprised when he chose to buy this, but I’m really glad he’s expanding his horizons a bit.

Just like my son, he wears flip flops with jeans and a long sleeve shirt! Love it!

My son, who is now almost 21 would not wear ‘what everyone else” was wearing, back as far as 7th grade. I don’t know if that came from wearing a uniform(catholic school) for all his school life, or that he wanted to be different. He certainly was, electing to read while others played games, and to be nice and sensitive in the face of ridicule. He still sticks to this today.

And he wears those style flip-flops, which goes right along with this. (that’s the reason for my original reply. )

My oldest son would only wear solid color shirts for years. On top of that, he would only wear navy blue, gray or white. Every single day, it looked like he was wearing the same thing! I was so glad the day I talked him into buying a yellow shirt! :)
