I still feel fond of my black dishes for actual eating, but it is SO much easier to photograph food on a white plate.
That was a well-spent $0.50.
I love my white Goodwill plate.

I’ve started moving away from decorate platters and serving pieces to white ones because they do go with everything. Clear glass dishes work well, too, though I’m not sure how they would work for food photography.
The difficulty with clear dishes is that you then have to be more mindful of what’s underneath them! Because whatever is underneath the plate automatically becomes the background.
I am wondering about the food on the plate. What is it? It looks delicious on the white plate and you are right about the plate; food does stand out better on them.
