I don’t feel too comfy carrying expensive equipment along to take sledding pictures, so I empty my camera bag of everything except my EOS body and my 50mm lens* (that’s my usual take-along-with-me combo…light, not too expensive, and not very big either).
And to keep the bag and its contents dry, I usually find that a branch or a knob on a tree works quite fabulously.
