Hand-Me-Ups

Last year, Zoe wore these as cropped pants, and I loved them. Sadly, this year the pants won’t button around her tummy (they’re cut pretty slim and Zoe isn’t super slim!).

Sonia is so teeny, though, the pants button on her with nary a problem, and she’s wearing them as capris. And this is not the only item Zoe has handed up to Sonia either…several items have made their way from Zoe’s drawer to Sonia’s.

It’s amazing how two girls from the same set of parents, living in the same house, eating the same foods can be built so differently.  I love it, though…Sonia’s teeny-ness is just so her, and it just wouldn’t seem right if Zoe wasn’t round. :)

My kids are the same, Alexander is like a greyhound and Ruby is like a Mabel Lucie Atwell drawing! I have thought the same about your Zoe too – all round, rosy cheeks and smooshableness! Not really a big surprise in this house though, both kids are ‘mini-me’ of my husband and I!

Hand-me-ups! What a great idea. You are very fortunate. I think I spy Joshua’s favorite shorts that you recently repaired in the background! = )

I have a round one, too! He has a fat little tummy, chubby cheeks, and some seriously chunky thighs. It’s strange, considering that both my husband and I were super-skinny kids. But our little man is the same size as his cousin, who is 6 months older!

I was a skinny kid, but a huge baby (my grandmother called me Bubbles because I was so fat!), so I’d venture to guess that your son will slim down too. Mine all lost their delightful baby fat when I stopped nursing them.

I was excited when I found out that i was having another boy… God does have a sense of humor, my first boy was built like a linebacker, so he wore overalls till he was 3, and my second was a string bean, hardly anything fit him from his brother….

Overalls might be good for a skinny kid…they’d stay up. lol

I love that you appreciate both your daughters’ sizes – definitely setting them up for healthy self-images down the line.

I have a girlfriend whose sister-in-law is all concerned about her 18-month-old daughter’s weight. It’s kind of scary – she restricts the eating habits of a kid who isn’t even potty-trained!

Oh yes, I don’t stress out about that at all. I feed them a reasonably healthy diet, keep them active, and figure whatever size they end up at is the right size for them.

I was an ENORMOUSLY fat baby and a skinny kid and all of my kids were quite rotund as babies too (Sonia not as much as the rest)…as they’ve gotten older, they’ve all gotten thinner, but Sonia has just ended up thinner than everyone else. lol

They don’t even look like the same pair of pants! I like the looks of them as capris!

My nephews (who are brothers) couldn’t be more different in size. The younger one (4 years younger) weighs about the same as the older one. They are built entirely differently — and both are ADORABLE! (And, um, no, I’m not biased at all.)

I think that it’s like personalities. Kids from the same parents growing up in the same situation can have very different personalities. And different sizes. It’s all in the genes.
