That was a little expensive. But fun.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I post a picture and just a few words.

I don’t know that we’ve ever taken our kids to the carnival before, but sort of on the spur of the moment, Mr. FG and I took the girls over one night.

(Joshua was gone at a sleepover. He doesn’t dig thrill rides anyway.)

Whenever we go to Myrtle Beach, the girls and I have a blast riding the Tilt-a-Whirl at the Family Kingdom amusement park, and when we saw that the carnival had one, we sort of had to ride it.   😉

It wasn’t quite as good as the Family Kingdom one, and the per-ride cost was higher, but it still was fun.   And I had a hoarse voice from screaming.   😉

I think this counts as a thing from my bucket list (grab small bits of time to do fun things), so there’s that too.

_____________

Do you ever do carnivals? Or do you find the per-ride price to be chokingly high? 😉

P.S. Thanks for all of your thoughts about our paint choice dilemma. I think I have a new compromise plan to try today. Of course, I will keep you posted.

Because that is what a blogger does.

I've been thinking about your paint dilemma. Why was anyone other than the two girls it affects voting? Does she know the rest of you sided with her sister? Does she typically get outvoted because the rest of you are more practical? :(

When your son goes to college, can she have his room and decorate it as she pleases?

Well, the girls wanted to know the opinion of everyone else in the family. Nope, she doesn't get outvoted all the time. :)

And yep, when there's an empty room, she will totally get to have her say in the decorating!

We found a happy middle ground color today, though, so no one gets outvoted. Yay!

Our city puts on a carnival every year just down the street from us and we take our 3 kids every year. We do the wrist bands too. It seems a little pricey but its still cheaper than driving to Cedar Point and buying 5 tickets there. We save on gas, food, drinks, and ticket prices. Plus, I don't think our kids could make a full day of it at an amusement park in the sun and heat. This allows us to come and go. Luckily, they have a lot of great rides for our kids so it works out for us. Its become a tradition for us and the kids get so excited when we see them start to set it up. Final bonus, some of the money goes to fund our city.

Yeah, that's how I looked at our tickets too...it was a fundraiser, so it helps to think of it as a donation! ;)

I like amusement parks but hate rides which worked well for my family. My job was to hold everyone's hats and sunglasses while they went on scary rides and I spent my time people watching. Fun for all.

We don't do carnivals. One comes to town here once a year during a festival, but we were unimpressed with it, although we took our kids a few times. There wasn't that much they wanted to ride and it just seems a little seedy. They have always preferred amusement parks -- we live within driving distance of Disney, Universal and Busch Gardens -- and one of them rides the scariest roller coasters she can find (and now her child is doing the same). However, as a kid, I lived a short distance away from an amusement park that was actually in a real park owned by the city, also containing a picnic and walker's section, a big duck pond, and canoeing. And the amusement park, kept clean, safe and fresh by the city, with a ton of rides, including Ferris wheels and roller coasters. It was one of my favorite destinations, and since it was city-owned, was reasonably priced. After I grew up and had moved away, I took my own kids there on some of my visits home. They loved it. Alas, insurance and liability concerns closed the amusement park section down finally. What a loss!

The past few years our church has sponsored a carnival after VBS in the parking lot. The kids get 10 tickets for free at VBS, and you can buy more at a discounted price. We usually spend about $30 more, and four of my kids ride everything they want. Sometimes I'll splurge and let them play one of the "all kids win" games for some big blow-up toy or a funnel cake. :-)
