Right now, I am….

in Right Now

-happy that I almost finished my taxes yesterday morning.

-a little embarrassed that I’ve taken this long to get around to it.

-relieved that I’m going to end up owing less than I thought I would.

pennies for coinstar

(My blogging income is really hard to predict, and I had a sneaking suspicion that the estimated taxes I paid weren’t going to be enough.)

-really, really glad that I set aside a bunch of my income for tax time, just in case.  I saved a lot more than I’m going to owe, which means it feels a little like I’m getting a refund because I’ll have plenty left over after I pay my tax bill.

-planning to write bigger estimated tax checks this year!

-thankful for Turbo Tax, because there is no way that I could ever in a million years tackle my self-employment taxes without it.

-delighted that it’s Friday.  At this time of year, we’re all getting a little burnt out on schoolwork, and that makes us look forward to the weekends a little more than we do in, say, October.

homeschooling

-pleased that relief is coming because we’re going to be done with a number of subjects before the end of April.

(Because we don’t have all the random days off here and there that public schools do, we often can finish off entire books in mid-spring.)

(Unfortunately, geometry is not one of the subjects that will be done before the end of April.  Boo.)

-kind of relieved that my family’s birthday celebrations are done for now.  In the last six weeks or so, Mr. FG, Zoe, Sonia, and Lisey have all had birthdays.  I have fun making their days special, of course, but I’m not going to complain about there being five months before Joshua’s birthday rolls around.  ;)

birthday cake

(My birthday is coming up this month, but that totally doesn’t count because Mr. FG and the kids are the ones who do things to make my day special. :) )

-feeling pretty good about turning 36.  I feel a little surprised that I’m entering the last half of my thirties (like, “Hmm.  How did this happen??  Surely I am not grown up enough to be this age!”).  But I do have a couple of teenagers here and we’ll celebrate our 17th anniversary this year, so I suppose I shouldn’t feel surprised.

I know people start to feel a little unnerved when they’re getting close to 40, but I dunno…I’m not too bothered by it.  That could change in the next few years, mind you, but I don’t think it will.

-pleased with my newest My Publisher book, which arrived yesterday.  I’m working backward to catch up with unscrapbooked photos, and I’m back to summer of 2011.

IMG_5747

It’s crazy how much littler my kids look in pictures from just a few years ago, and that makes it a lot of fun to sort through these older photo files as I make the books.

(Here’s my unsponsored review of My Publisher, in case you’re interested.)

-thinking I’d better go start on my day.  I’ve got lots to squeeze in today, so I’d better get on it.

Right now I am,
- sitting quietly reading your blog and enjoying some coffee while my family sleeps
- making a mental list of the day’s events
- reviewing yesterday’s events, wondering if there is anything I need to finish/do or say to be complete or make amends.
- glad it is Friday and grateful to have a job I love.

Happy early birthday to you this month! I turned 40 and my husband turned 50 last month (10 days apart!) and we’re loving it!! Age is just a number. Our 3 year old keeps us feeling young, healthy and active! Enjoy your weekend.

Totally! I don’t really FEEL like I’m nearing the over-the-hill stage of life. I’m really blessed to be healthy.

I turn 40 in just over 2 months ;)

I’m behind with my scrapbooking also, way behind. The benefits are, as you mention, getting to look back.

Need to investigate photo books!

They ARE way faster than scrapbooking…so it’s a good way for me to catch up!

My son was born in January 2011. I have gotten up to fall 2010 with scrapbooking. Sigh.

I just finished nursing my youngest (he is 1 year old). It is a bittersweet goodbye. It’s nice to have my body back, but I do sometimes miss the required snuggling….

Right now, I am…

–enjoying free coffee, free childcare, and free WiFi at the Y before my aerobics class
–happy that someone besides me linked to my blog in a forum I frequent
–glad to have my taxes totally finished–did the federal months ago, but only just got around to doing the local ones yesterday
–excited to see some spring in the forecast
–proud of myself for finding the time and energy to move my 403(b) from TIAA-CREF to Vanguard, where it should get better returns and will certainly face lower fees!

Well, happy early birthday to you. I thought we may be the same age—I also turn 36 in a few weeks. Can we still say we’re technically in our mid-thirties? I think so!

Congratulations on getting your tax returns done!!!! My husband and I are both self employed and also use Turbo Tax to get the job done! We will file an extension on April 15th (exactly on April 15th, we’ve been known to be one of those people in line at the post office at midnight), we’ll get some K-1′s in September and file our 2013 return on October 15th, 2014. I’m always soooo glad when it gets done.

Right now I’m…
- Babysitting my nephew.
- Thinking about writing a book
- Sending by 4 year old to his room for throwing a ball against the living room wall – he knows better.
- Appreciating the fact that my husband isn’t afraid to get in the kitchen and start lunch without me.
- Wondering if my mom will watch the boys so we can hit a movie this weekend.

Right now I’m basking in the spring thaw. I always feel like I am coming out of a fog at the end of winter.

I’m turning 33 today and I’m feeling like the third-life-crisis that hit me at 31 (where is my career going?, am I a good mom?) is abating. For me it is the first couple years of each decade that hit me hard. Then I sail to to the next decade.

I’m planning our summer vacation and that is always fun.

I’m seeing the light at the end of our home renovations. So ready for a shower in my new tub!

I’m looking forward to my birthday lunch (sandwiches at the park with my sweet husband and boys) and the birthday cake they are making me.

Right now I am
happy I’m off work for a couple of nights

tired that I’ve been working so many nights in a row and before that so many day sin a row…

tired since I only slept about 3 hours after work

worried about a 3 pm veterinarian appointment because my dog’s eye is still not doing well and I’m afraid it’s about time to make a decision I don’t want to make

excited (and frustrated) at learning to knit

dreading the major housework I have to do (dog didn’t help matters)

happy I’m using some of the vintage Pyrex I bought last year

happy I cooked lunch here at home instead of going through a drive-thru on the way to the vet

dreading the Friday traffic in the area of town we’ll be in for the vet appointment

looking forward to coming home and going back to bed!

looking forward to church on Sunday

grateful to coworkers for helping out with my callout so I can get a few days off these next 2 weeks

thankful my church is having an early service added for Easter (I have to work that night and was dreading waiting until 9 am but now there’s a 7 am added so I can go early then come home and try to sleep til 6 pm if I can…

anticipating doing more cooking at home after all the short term disability and vacation coverage that goes through May pretty heavily and possibly even June

happy with the finance coach I have (though the price IMO is a bit much)I feel more confident with what I save and spend now and am getting the hang of a budget

Looking forward to reading new book, by Crystal Paine I just got today, it looks really good and hoping to break it open tonight.
Loving all the flowers and blooms everywhere.
Thankful whatever bug we had is finally leaving the house, no sickness all winter and then bam spring comes and sicko.

Must be birthday season, mine is this coming Tuesday… combining with my youngest daughter’s who will be 24. We will have a family party at a Mexican restaurant. And whoever said age is just a number, you’re so right! I’m 56 and expecting my fourth grandchild, and I can honestly say I feel no different ( or more mature, for that matter) than I ever have. I admit I’ve looked at grandmothers wrong all my life. I own my own business, as does my husband, no slowing down for us yet…whether that’s good or bad depends on the day! (my dad is 81 and works full time)

It’s amazing to me how much more you can get down doing school work when you don’t have to put up with the time wasters of public school. It’s awesome that you get to do that, and I had to do over again with my kids, I would do the same thing. :)!

Right now I’m…

…catching up on the computer after a day spent at doctor’s appointments
…enjoying a quiet evening in the house while the kids and my husband do the evening barn chores
…happy that supper is in the oven
…listening to the cistern pump running as we give the well pump a much needed break

I love your posts! I just wanted to pass on an experience that totally changed how I feel about aging. I was diagnosed with breast cancer shortly after my 39th birthday. I spent most of that year in and out of surgery and chemo. Believe me, it felt (still feels) like a HUGE Blessing to be able to turn 40. I am half way to 42, and I am thankful for every day. Growing older is something not everyone is blessed to do. Have a very happy weekend!
