Right now, I’m…

in Right Now

-thinking it’s been a long time since I’ve written a right now post!

-unreasonably excited to read The Overspent American, which landed on my library hold shelf.

The Overspent American

-feeling a little overwhelmed at all the stuff I need to get done today. Mondays seem to do that to me.

-realizing part of the problem is that I spent no time this weekend making a plan for the upcoming week. When I do that (The planning.  Not the, uh, not-planning.), it helps an awful lot.

-thinkin’ I should at least make a list of the things that are overwhelming me. Somehow writing them all down helps a little.

-wanting to get our taxes done. I’m pretty sure all the papers have arrived, so now I just need to buckle down and do it (I use Turbo Tax.)

-hoping we won’t owe this year. I paid some estimated taxes for my income this year, but I’m not sure it was enough.  However, I’ve faithfully socked away money in a savings account to cover anything we might owe, and I think I socked away more than we’ll need, so it’ll be kind of like getting my own refund.

-glad we’ve had a little reprieve from single digit temperatures, even though the snow is lovely and all.

-trying to decide what to give Mr. FG today.  I have a list and just need to choose something.  ;)

(It’s February, which means the 14 Days of Valentines have started around here.)

-pleased that I have maintained an almost-empty email inbox for a week and a half now.  That’s kind of a record.

-enjoying scrolling through the pictures of my niece’s 2nd birthday party.  She’s such a hoot!

-feeling good about having gotten some shopping done for the many birthdays that are coming up at our house in the next two months.

(FYI-I’ve been using TopCashBack while I’ve been shopping, and I’m pleased to report that this site works just as well as Ebates, but offers higher cashback rates.  Definitely give them a shot if you need to do any online shopping.)

-happy that while cleaning out a drawer, I found a $100 prepaid Visa card.  I have no recollection of receiving this, but it was a pretty nice discovery!

-thinking about doing something a little bit extravagant and unlike me with some money that I received as part of my participation in the Glad #SaveItSunday program.

(They sent me $1500, which is the amount that the average American family wastes by throwing food away each year, and I’ve got pretty much free reign when it comes to deciding what to do with it.)

I always find writing a list makes me feel less overwhelmed as well :)

Right now, I am

Very glad to have finished moving house (now to unpack everything…)
Enjoying a reprieve from the 40C temperatures (around 100F(ish))

Always good to see you around! Glad you’re getting a break from the heat…it’s a little hard to remember what it’s like to be hot right now, but 100 is no good for days on end.

The Frugal Girl lost track of a $100 gift card?! How can that be?

Yay! I hope you love their soaps. You should definitely try their lip balm too sometime…it’s my favorite product of theirs.

I don’t know if it’s a good thing or a bad thing but if I was given $1,500 to spend on myself, I’d have absolutely no idea what to do with it.

Well, my extravagant idea isn’t just for me…it would be for the whole family. I’d run into the same difficulty if I had to spend it JUST on myself.

Whoa! $100!! I found a $10 McD’s gift card from 2008 when I was sorting through gift bags after Christmas…wanna trade?

Right now I’m…longing for spring to come, wondering how much snow we’ll get on Wednesday and if the kids will have a snow day, smiling because the Super Bowl is over and maybe I won’t have to hear about football for a while…maybe? (I like football, just not all the hype.)

Right now I’m thinkin’ that I have a great idea for the use of that cash…you know, something fun for the whole family. ;)

I’m feeling grateful that my baby’s fever was nothing serious.

Having mixed feelings about receiving the first of my grad school applications back. I didn’t get in to UT but I wasn’t really expecting too. I’m scared to death about the other schools, but it is exciting to start hearing back.

At peace because I don’t have to go anywhere today. I’m looking forward to a quiet day.

Exhausted by the month of January. I’m glad it is behind us and I’m hoping February holds less snow.

Isn’t that the BEST? A whole day with nowhere to go.

Today, I am
-feeling overwhelmed about all I want to do
-sad to find wool moths in my colcha embroidery thread
-feeling good that I got out for my morning walk
-wishing my knee would heal up so I can go back to the gym
-trying to stay on schedule. (Internet does not help that! LOL)

Right now I am
- feeling less overwhelmed than when I woke up – many things have already checked off my to-do list!
- realizing the wilderness training course hubby and I are taking is a way bigger time & fitness commitment than we’d first realized!
- pleased that I can repackage yesterday’s veg chili over baked sweet potatoes tonight, since it’s going to be a busy day.
- feeling good that I hiked 21 miles this past weekend.
- hoping The Overspent American book I just requested from my library comes in soon!

Glad I have a working washing machine again! And very eager for spring. I’m so over snow.

I don’t think I’ve ever been in a Target. Only because there is no store handy. A few months ago I noticed a Target near my credit union so if I win I can go to that one. Hey, if I win I’d drive 50 miles out of my way so I could go on the shopping spree!

Oops, I don’t know what just happened. I was responding to a post about smart phon apps for target
then I started reading other replys and no one else was talking about Target.

Right now I’m… implementing this awesome organizing plan called Mind Organization for Moms (from Power of Moms) and I have to tell you, it has my usual crazy planning beat. I’m feeling less stressed and more “together” than I have in years!

It is based on “Getting It Done” by David Allen.
