Lately, I’ve been….

…making my way through the seasonal clothing swap. It’s always more work than I remember.

And more mess.

Plus, I have a big pile of clothes by my sewing machine that need modifying (have to make them skinnier for Sonia, and then not quite so skinny for Zoe when it’s her turn to wear them). Fortunately, the weather’s been a bit cold, so it’s all right that I haven’t gotten through the whole pile yet!

All that said, I am so very thankful for hand me downs, and since they save so much money, it’s definitely worth to take the time to sort through them.

(One must also remember that taking children shopping for new clothes isn’t exactly free in terms of time and frustration.)

…making algebra checking slightly more pleasant by going outdoors.

…sporting my very first pair of Converses, which I picked up on clearance when I bought Sonia’s new pair. The lady at the store assured me that even though I am halfway to age 70, I am not too old to wear Converses. I’m still a bit uncertain, but decided to trust her.

…chuckling at the things Sonia takes photos of when she borrows my camera. I call this masterpiece, “Le Hamper”.

But then she does also take some pretty nice ones.

…enjoying that Zoe is getting some wear out of this shirt, which I fixed by snipping off the sleeves. Remember?

…love, love, loving my latest library acquisition. This book is awesome, and I’m going to devote a whole post to it soon. over-dressed book

…enjoying the fact that most of the oak pollen has left the building for another year. This is good news for Miss Sonia.

doing a self-high-five because I read your post about kneading and it totally transformed my rock-like bread! Honey whole wheat loaf from 100daysofrealfood is SO much better following your advice, thanks!

helping the K's and 1's plant in our school's raised bed garden (and hoping the new chicken wire fencing deters the neighbors from sending in their small dogs to do their business...sigh...really?).

reading "Overdressed" - thanks for the rec!

let me just tell you that i am also halfway to 70 and i wear nothing but converse....even to church! when i've got my cons on, i can do anything. clean the house, run to the grocery store, meet a friend, take a walk, pooper scoop, go on a date with my hubby, weed the garden. it's great to have versatile shoes that you really can rock with any kind of pants or skirts. i love not thinking about my feet.

Lately I have been planning, researching, pinning for this tiny house I'm building. Getting frustrated about regulations from different forms of government. No one has ever done it here, so I'm having to do all the research.

Not enjoying the cold, unlike the northern hemisphere, here in oz it's getting cold. We only see snow in certain part of the country, so I shouldn't complain but for a country that is used to 25 deg Celsius upwards. 15 deg is cold!!

Enjoying the view of the three sisters outside my window every morning when I wake up!! But not enjoying the 2 hours it takes to get back to Sydney!!

Enjoying teaching at the start of the term when everyone is fresh back from two weeks off!! Kids( and teachers) are so much more pleasant when they have had some time off!!

I heard Elizabeth Cline (the author of Overdressed) interviewed on NPR the other day - absolutely blew me away. I'm heading to the library to pick up the book - glad to hear you think it's worth reading!
