Handmade Soap Giveaway (from Third Day Naturals)

Hello there, readers!

Today’s giveaway is the first in a series of three that I’ll be running. All three giveaways are from small businesses that make their products by hand, and I wanted to squeeze all of them in here quickly before you’re done with your gift shopping!

Though there’s a place for large corporations, I suppose, I really like to support small businesses whenever I can, and I know a lot of you do too. So, hopefully you’ll be delighted to learn more about these three small companies.

Today, I’ve got a give away from Third Day Naturals, a handmade soap company.

Third Day soaps are hand-made by a family that lives in Hudson Valley, New York.

Why should you buy soap from Third Day?

Well, Third Day soaps are made with completely natural ingredients, such as shea butter, avocado oil, and coconut oil.

They’re free of phthalates and parabens, and are made with essential oils, not fragrance oils.

And since most of their soaps are vegetable-based, you can happily use them if you’re a vegan.

The soaps come wrapped in recyclable or compostable paper, and each bar has a recyclable or compostable cardboard sleeve around it. So, they’re quite lovely on the trash production front (woo!)

Since the bars are handmade, they have a charmingly non-commercial look to them.

Me likey.

And they smell amazing! So fragrant. You know how sometimes artificially scented soap and body wash smell kind of…artificial? Since these are made with essential oils, they smell completely authentic.

Third Day soaps come in six different fragrances, like Peppermint Tea Tree Oil, Pink Grapefruit, and Citrus. To help you decide which is your favorite, Third Day offers a sampler pack, which contains six small bars-one for each scent.

(The sampler pack ships for free, which is a nice bonus.)

The sampler comes with a handy-dandy reference card, so you know which bar you’re using.

So far, our favorites are the Citrus and the Evergreen (it smells just like a Christmas tree!)

Giveaway Info!

Third Day wants you guys to be able to try their soaps, so they’re giving away a set of two full-sized soap bars to two of you. You can use them yourself or give them to someone on your gift list.

To enter, just leave a comment telling me which scent sounds like it might be your favorite (just click right here to see the scents offered at Third Day.)

This giveaway will close at midnight EST on Monday, December 10th. At that point, two winners will be randomly chosen.

One entry per person, please.

Entries limited to the continental U.S. (Apologies to international readers. I really do love you guys too!)

disclosure: Third Day provided me with sample products to facilitate this review and giveaway, but I was not paid to write this review or run the giveaway. I do not receive a commission off of any purchases made through the links in this post, but I do hope you’ll consider doing some of your Christmas shopping with Third Day!

  1. Kathie says

I’d love to try the Peppermint Tea Tree soap! I’ve never used homemade soaps. Seems like such a luxury :-)

  2. Reese says

Love this kind of giveaway (can you do more of these throughout the year?). I never use body wash because of all the added junk in it, and the suds just never seem to go away. I always use bar soap, and the more natural, more homemade? The better.

Honestly all the smells sound delectable! And I’d happily wash with any of them ;)

  3. Mary G says

They all sound wonderful. I think the Citrus Sunshine might be great to get me going in the morning!

  4. Marla says

I can’t decide between the lavender and the citrus….I love homemade soap. Either one would make me happy.

  5. Debra says

These sound wonderful! As long as there’s no lanolin (the oil from sheep’s wool, gathered-so to speak-during wool processing for yarn), we can use it. My daughter and I are allergic to lanolin… We also can’t wear wool anything, and I can’t use wool yarn in my knitting or crocheting because of the residual lanolin.

  6. Mara says

I love the peppermint scent. I’ve been using handmade bathing soaps for a couple years now. They are very fragrant and make nice amounts of lather but don’t leave all that extra soap on the shower floor like body wash always did. And they are pretty cheap compared to body wash.

  7. Amanda says

The peppermint tea tree sounds amazing. I love the invigorating smell of both of those essential oils!

  8. WilliamB says

Lavender-oatmeal type of person. Shall have to try the sampler. And one day coordinate with my distant SIL to have her teach me now to make soap – I have 10 lbs of lard I can’t figure a good use for.

  9. Patti says

    Hi Kristen,

I love homemade soaps. It’s all I use. My favorite in this line would be Pink Grapefruit Soap.

    Patti

  10. Laura Lou says

Oooh, yummy! I would want the citrus sunshine soap, because it would be a pick-me-up in my morning shower.

  11. Sarah says

It’s definitely a toss-up between the peppermint and citrus scent. Peppermint is soooooo calming for me and helps with my migraines, but citrus is my “go-to” pick-me-up scent!

  12. Amy says

Lavender Oatmeal sounds like it would both smell great and help me completely winter dried out skin.

  13. robbiekay says

Thanks Kristen and Third Day for the chance to enter this giveaway (I like that name–reminds me of “and on the third day He rose….”). I think the citrus sunshine sounds like a happy scent. Having sensitive skin, I was impressed with what I read about the products.

  14. Terry says

For me, it would definitely be the Pink Grapefruit. There’s just something about grapefruit that’s so refreshing!

  15. Amanda says

I LOVE homemade soap, so I had a hard time making a decision on which I would want to try. (I might have to get a sampler pack.) Given the choice, the citrus sounds refreshing, and my husband would probably like it over some of the other scents too.

  16. Jennifer Womack says

The Peppermint Tea Tree sounds wonderful. I love a refreshing scent that will perk me up in the morning.

  17. says

Lavender Oatmeal would be my choice – love all things lavender! The sample pack would be a great gift for my son to give his grandma – thanks.

  18. Caitlin says

Pink grapefruit sounds great! I have very sensitive skin, so I get nervous about switching from my tried and true soaps, but I like the natural sound of this company.

  19. says

They sound lovely, just the sort of thing I would be happy to go for. They look wonderful too – perfect for presents.

  20. Madelaine says

Pink Grapefruit ofr Citrus Sunshine. Either one sounds great (actually they all sound wonderful).

  21. Katie Burton says

The citrus or the lavender would probably be my favorite… Citrus to wake up… Lavender to relax.

  22. Jennifer h says

I would love the peppermint tea tree! My only question – would it be wrong that I smell like my spray cleaner?! Those are the two EOs I usually put in my all purpose spray cleaner :) I love using handmade soaps!

  23. erin says

I am 3DN’s sister … can I enter? :) :) :) My favorite scent is Pepprrmint Tea Tree. Very invigorating in the morning shower!

  24. Donna says

Oooh, citrus and peppermint tea tree for me please! I love handmade soap — and would knit myself some new lovely cotton washcloths to go with them . . . a nice indulgence ;) Thanks for the chance.

  25. says

Love the idea behind this company, and I’d consider them local as i am not far from the Hudson Valley! I’d love to win this giveaway, esp. the lavendar-oatmeal one, a favorite scent of mine.

    Thanks!
    Carol

  26. Charlotte says

I think the lavender oatmeal would be my first pick. But the citrus sunshine also sounds wonderful. :) Thanks for offering this giveaway, I love trying homemade products.

  29. SARAH says

The peppermint might be my favorite! But the lavender sounds like a nice calming scent as well! Either one would be lovely I’m sure!

  30. Paul says

Im not sure I want to smell like a Christmas tree, but the scents and their ingredients sound wonderful

  31. Traci Hankins says

I love the blanket and that would be my choice :) I am soon expecting my 1st Grandchild so the blanket would go to the new baby . hank you for the great letters and give-a-ways !!

  32. Shawna says

I’m thinking the lavender oatmeal or the peppermint tea tree would be my favorites!!! Lavender and peppermint are two of my ALL TIME FAVORITE SCENTS!!!

  33. Suzanne Peckham says

Love the smell of evergreen in the bath! So refreshing! Would love to sample these soaps!

  34. says

    #1 scent: Peppermint Tea
    #2: Grapefruit
    #3: Citrus Sunshine
I know, you only asked for one selection, but all three were vying hard for first place, bumping elbows and jostling each other out of position…

  35. leslie says

I love having a bar of special soap in the shower as I think of it as my frugal spa experience. I would love to try the peppermint tea tree soap.

  36. Jamie Stone says

The peppermint tea tree sounds great – but I’m sure they all smell wonderful. Thank you for telling us about these soaps. We are trying to go more natural in our home with food, bath & body, and makeup products. This sounds like a great company!

  37. Brenda H. says

The peppermint and the lavendar sound heavenly. I just love this kind of give away. Thanks for supporting small businesses!

Thanks for featuring some real soap! All of the frangrances sound so good, but I’m such a fan of lavendar that the lavendar oatmeal might be my favorite.

  41. Sara says

I love the fragrance selections! I think my mother-in-law would love to find the Pink Grapefruit bar under her tree this year! :)

  42. Jan Davis says

I LOVE scented soaps, especially those that are all natural. I’d be delighed to have the Lavendar Oatmeal, or perhaps the Citrus. Please, please enter my name into this drawing. I don’t usually have much luck when it comes to give-a-ways but, of course, if I don’t enter, I have no chance at all. Keeping my fingers crossed!! Blessings, Jan

  43. Frances in Texas says

These sound really good. My choices are Pink Grapefruit and Peppermint Tea Tree. We’ve ordered from a handmade soap place in northern California and really enjoy using their soaps, too.

  44. Maureen says

I would have to try the pink grapefruit. It reminds me so much of Florida and would brighten my day during the dreary winter months in the North Country.

  45. Lyn says

Lavender Oatmeal sounds delightful but with all those wonderful ingredients I imagine any scent would be fantastic. Thanks for the opportunity.

  46. says

The citrus scent sounds divine and my husband would flip for a chance at using it as well (he is a bit of a citrus nut). Here is hoping!

  47. Oakley says

Our family struggles with eczema and allergies…I have been slowly cleaning up our insides with a gluten-free and grain-free diet, but, alas, a few of our kiddos STILL have some lingering eczema and rashes. I have been told that natural soaps, free of parabens and phthalates and such can really make a difference! After reading about these handmade soaps, I would really like to give them a try! The peppermint scent and the lavender oatmeal scent sound the best to me!

  48. Kristie says

Citrus would be my choice. I love the scent & it would help wake me up in the morning. Lavender Oatmeal would be the most relaxing for a bath.

  49. Wilma says

I love the scent of lavendar, so the lavendar oatmeal bar would be great, but i know each scent would be amazing

  50. Heather Anne says

Normally I would choose the Lavendar Oatmeal, but with the dreary weather I am feeling like the Citrus Sunshine would be fantastic to boost the start of my day!

Citrus sunshine. Or peppermint tee tree. Or evergreen since we just moved to FL and I’m missing winter. LOL I think I need the sampler….

  53. Sherry Blair says

Loved reading about this site and the natural soaps. I love the lavender scent as it tends to be relaxing (and I have a job as a supervisor at a company that I LOVE, but oh! can it be stressful at times–lavender oils to the rescue), so that is what I would pick!

  54. Tina B says

I’d love the Evergreen. I’ve always had a live Christmas tree – every single year of my life. I love anything that gives me that scent!

  55. Chris Martinelli says

  58. Ashes says

The Citrus sounds lovely to me, although I think if I won it might have to go to my mother as a gift. She has one of those close-to-Chirstmas birthdays, and I think sometimes she gets gypped in the gift department.

  59. Gretchen says

I love the idea of using an all natural soap and the citrus sunshine scent sounds absolutely lovely.

    Love the idea.
Finally someone came up with the three most important ingredients for our older generation skin, as well as the younger. If the younger generation start protecting their skin NOW, they will always have nice skin.

    Thanks!
