Food Waste Friday | I’m good…

Every week, I post a picture of the food that has gone bad over the last seven days. Why do I do this? Because in March of 2008, I finally got fed up with the amount of food I was wasting, and I thought that showing my waste to other people would motivate me to use up my food instead of wasting it. Because this often embarrassing practice was so helpful for me, I invited other bloggers to join me in posting their food waste photos, and Food Waste Friday was born. If you’re not a blogger but still want some food waste accountability, feel free to participate by leaving a comment.

…at least, I am for the moment! I do have an alarming number of leftovers in my fridge at the moment, though, so we’ll see what next week holds.

That was super short, so I’ll add that you have until Monday to enter to win a $50 Visa gift card on my review page…all you have to do is leave a comment on my latest post. 🙂

I just found your website/blog and started reading. Love it!

Friday I was re-organizing the kitchen with my two 2 year old "helpers". Apparently I neglected using potatoes last week so I found slimy maggoty mess created from a badly bruised one. Said bruises were inflicted by my daughter who can't seem to not carry them around if she can get her hands on the bag. Sadly half the bag needed to get composted cause I couldn't bring my self to touch them much less rinse them off.

SUCH a bad week here!! I put some frozen chicken and bbq sauce in the crockpot on Tuesday before I left for errands...forgot to turn it on! It was still frozen when I got home, so I was just going to put it in the fridge for Wednesday. I got distracted, and then went to bed, so by morning it was totally no good. Thursday I made some muffins...I started cleaning and lost track of the the time and burnt them BLACK and ended up tossing them. Thursday night I made potato soup in the crockpot, except I didn't put in enough liquid and it was more like potatoes in sauce. Hubs refused to eat it, and (imagine this) it got left out overnight AGAIN as I got preoccupied during kitchen clean up (I'm starting to see a pattern here...) with a fussy baby and was up all the rest of the night with him. That got tossed this morning. I also threw away a cucumber that got lost in the back of the fridge and went limp, as well as some carrots that went slimy. I haven't had a week this bad in ages and hope I never do again!!
