This is GREAT! To stop wasting food was on my list of resolutions this year--I think it will be the biggest way to trim our grocery budget. So it's very comforting to find a group of people focues o nthe same thing. I didn't do so well this week either--I was sick and didn't get to cooking everything I'd planned. Going to make a crisp this afternoon with some of the marginal fruit.

Dear Mrs. FG,
This is not food waste Friday related, but I wanted to say thank you on behalf of my family. The other day I checked out your blog after a long absence (about 2 weeks) and was inspired to make a good dinner. We had roast pork with a muskadine-apple reduction sauce, english peas, pineapple, and fresh french bread. It was all gone in under 20 minutes!
Wait a second, this is somewhat f.w.F. related as the reduction sauce was made from the muscadine jelly which has been feeling Soooooo lonely in the fridge for months on end (does that stuff ever go bad?) and the less than one serving of apple juice left in the jug. After that, I poured in the juice from the pineapple, some cornstarch, and let it simmer away.

I just wanted to let you know that sometimes you can inspire people in ways not intended ~ I am a horrible cook and would have never tried this, except for your f.w.F. posts.

thank you,
Angie

Ooops, food waste friday became saturday this week. But not much got wasted this week, which feels good.

I have to say I am also finding it vastly amusing that every single time I have typed food waste friday so far I have actually typed food waster friday. What can I say? It's very hot and really silly things like that seem funnier than they might normally :-)

We wasted two slices of French toast! I didn't realize my husband hadn't eaten it and it was hidden in the refrigerator. I think he must be crazy, because wasting French toast is just about unimaginable to me.

Well I'm just joining in here as you can tell by my bench of shame with how much food I threw out - hopefully this will lead to more organising and planning so this doesn't keep happening

Just some few odds and ends this week. My room mate's orange juice, some free hummus, some cream cheese that apparently had a death wish, and scoop of slaw.

Yay for your no-waste-week!! I did not have such luck. I lost some amazingly yummy strawberries simply because I bought too many! :-( You'd think I'd learn my lesson on that....but obviously I have not!

Oy! I was sick this week, so I'm afraid that means a fair amount of food was wasted. Not only did I *eat* much less, but I was unable to cook as well. So the kids had pasta and meals from the freezer, rather than using up the fresh food. I was able to give some away to my brother, but some just plain spoiled. I hate that! But there's not much you can do about getting sick once in awhile.

At least I had lots of food ready-to-be-heated in the freezer, so me being sick didn't mean takeout.
