So, I was wearing a free outfit the other day.

in Clothing

And I was trying to take pictures of it for you.

The bathroom mirror wasn’t working out too well.

So Joshua helped me out. He is famous for taking pictures when I’m not ready. ;)

Then Sonia decided to join me.

So, this is the best we could do.  It’s a little blurry, and it doesn’t even really show my jeans.

I am reminded once again that I am much, much better at being on this side of the camera…

than I am at being on this side.

Anyways…my Aeropostale sweater and my Tilt jeans were both completely free.  I got them from an event at our sister church which is called the “Free Flea”.  It’s kind of like a flea market except that everything is completely free, and that, I think, is completely wonderful.

That is so very cool. I will have to look for something like that here. I did hit a Mom2Mom sale and got a ton of stuff for the new baby and the other two for less than $40.

Kristen…I think you are really photogenic and look beautiful in all your pictures! The outfit is great too! Can’t get much better than free!

Free is WONDERFUL….

I was all excited because I have a cute (to me) out fit that was less than 5 bucks. It also consisted of jeans and and a sweater hoodie. That was no small feat considering I’m a plus size, and there generally isn’t a huge selection of that “genre” of clothing in the thrift stores.

Now I have something to aspire to!!!

That goes for me as well plus I am really choosy about how short my shirts are because I am now plus size. I do plan to lose the weight (again…sigh) but am nursing a baby so will wait. Anyway, finding deals on clothing that I will feel comfy wearing is hard!
Your outfit is super cute, I’m new to this blog & Facebook group but have been enjoying the great ideas.

My weight has fluctuated a great deal over the years. Sometimes I’m thin and sometimes I’m plus size! LOL! So I haven’t spent a great deal on buying clothes. I’m always looking for great deals on clothes but I splurge on accessories. I recently launched Fleurtle’s Pink Slipper Boutique which specializes in plus size clothing at great prices. It also has a consignment section with plus size clothing if you’re interested! http://www.fleurtlespinkslipperboutique.com. Let me know what you think!

Our Church does that every so often. You bring in what you don’t need anymore and then on a Saturday everyone goes through what was brought and takes what is needed for their kids. The left overs are donated to the Salvation Army Thrift store. I love hand me downs. So much easyer to clothe your kids when others pass down stuff to you.

very cute outfit. We have a consignment store here called “Stuff Ect” and I buy a lot of my clothing there. Ill have to shoot a pic of a pair of shoes I got at Goodwill. Although I am not a fan of “used” shoes,I happened to come across them and they are darling and they seriously looked like they hadnt been worn. I did Lysol them for good measure though ( ha ha)

Did you notice how much more relaxed you were, and your smile more natural, after Sonia joined you?

Yup…I don’t do well posing in front of the camera! I never know what to do with my hands, and so having Sonia in my arms was helpful. lol

If I could see myself while I was posing, I could easily know how to adjust myself properly, which is why I thought the mirror idea would work. But, I can’t get back far enough from the mirror.

Having God’s favor is more valuable than money. I’ve had similar experiences of getting something on sale and when i went to pay for it find out it marked down even more. Your experience also shows how important is it to wait for God. One my favorite scriptures is: The Lord makes rich and He adds no sorrow to it Proverbs 10:22. The sorrow comes because of not patiently, waiting for God’s timing. I have experienced both sides. And I can say that it is much, much better to wait, than trying to make it happen myself. God knows what we have need of and He said He would give us the desires of our heart Psalms 37:3,4.
Your outfit is cute and you have a very pretty daughter.

Our church has a FREE Clothing exchange once a month. It’s pretty cool! I’ve gotten lots of nice clothing for my family. It’s even more fun when you go help sort clothes because you really get first dibs on what’s in the bags and don’t have to dig though piles & boxes. *smile*

Very cute outfit. I’ve come to the conclusion that I will not buy new jeans anymore. It is too easy to get cute second hand ones. Great job!

Hmm . . . I just looked down at what I’m wearing and found:

- Black J. Crew sweater that a neighbor was going to give to Goodwill.
- My cute $4.50 Levi’s from Goodwill.
- Wool socks that I stole my my son’s sock drawer (does this count?)
- 99 cent Gap V-neck T-shirt from Value Village that still had its’ Gap hang-tag on it.
- Expensive thick sheepskin slippers that allow me to keep the heat low in the house. (They were a present.)

Fashion plate, I am not.

Hmmm..that sounds a lot like what I would wear, actually. Of course, I’m not exactly a fashion plat either, esp. in the wintertime! lol

I thought the caption said ‘so I was wearing a tree outfit the other day’….and I said “I have to read this!”. It was still a nice article, even if you weren’t wearing at tree outfit.

That’s awesome. If I ever find a tree outfit, I will be sure to share it with you. lol

You are so cute!!

I haven’t been to any clothing giveaways like that yet, even though I’ve seen a few pop up here and there. I should definitely check one out sometime. I do love Value Village though. At the rate kids grow, it doesn’t make sense at all to spend a small fortune on clothing in the stores. I’m all for $2 pants that get outgrown and worn out in a matter of a couple of months! It doesn’t hurt as much as $15+ items do, lol. And next to getting something for free, there is such a great feeling that comes with getting a completely “new-to-you” outfit for under $10. The Value Village near me is fantastic too. Lots of new-with-tags, name-brand pieces of clothing coming in all the time. I’ve never dressed better since I started shopping there! I heard a tip once. When shopping at Value Village, or any thrift store for that matter, pick one to go to that is in a more “upscale” neighborhood, or at least near one. These ones tend to have more almost-new and name brand things, if that matters to you :) I don’t buy name-brand unless it’s from Value Village, and even then I don’t like to buy things that have the name-brand sprawled across the front. I don’t like feeling like a walking billboard. So enough rambling from me! Love the pics, and love your blog. Because of you and your blog I am going to start baking, starting with bread today! So excited :)

Totally agree…the thrift stores in upscale neighborhoods do tend to have better stuff.

That sounds like a great idea, Free Flea. Would you mind posting more details about it?

Sure…basically, the church has everyone bring clothes, shoes, and household items on a Friday night, volunteers sort the stuff, and then on Saturday, anyone is welcome to come and take whatever they want. All free! :)
