Well done Kristen; I think we all have our things that are less favourable and can end up wasted. Meat isn't a problem here because we have a cat.
Are bokashi bins expensive over there? Perhaps it might be an investment for you?

THis week temperatures soared and it made a difference to my food waste - some cauliflower and broccoli that went off before my very eyes. It was an interesting week and I'm rapidly eating my way through soft potatoes and carrots before they have the same fate :)

Angela- What did you find to do with the kale? Mine is looking ok for now, but I don't know that I can use it all before it starts to not look so hot.

I did ok this week. However, some of the leftovers just got thrown into a bag in the freezer and I am in need of tips as to how to use them: http://copingwithfrugality.blogspot.com/2009/07/food-waste-friday.html

I cut up leftover grilled chicken breasts and make them into lunch time quesadillas or dinner time gorditas or enchiladas. Tomorrow I'm going to use it in a hot sauce dip for the 4th of July. The trick is to cut it up the leftovers right after dinner or sometime the next day so the chicken doesn't make it's way to the back of the refrigerator where it will go unnoticed.

Tossed salmon! Oh my gosh, what you two need (Kristen and Alea) are pets. Just joking, we don't have pets, but maybe a neighborhood cat or dog would enjoy the meat treat?

We had no food waste, thanks to the great suggestions from my readers, and some creative re-purposing of some unappetizing kale.

In our house we have 2 meat eaters and 3 who are indifferent, so I have to watch out or meat waste can be a problem at our house too. In fact, I had to toss a piece of salmon today. I don't understand why they charge so much for something that smells so bad! :)

Kristen, I don't understand how you get left with 2 pieces of chicken... If I see that I'm going to have a small amount of left-overs, I can usually pawn them off to someone at the end of a meal, especially if it's meat. :-)

Not too bad for me this week. I'm disappointed about the strawberries, they shouldn't have gone so fast!
