Hi there, back-reading your blog, a lot of thought provoking things here! Great job! I just wanted to say, I first tried cooked cucumbers at a chinese restaurant overseas (not in China) I liked it, and now I often add cucumbers near the end when making stir-frys. Really good combo w/bell peppers and other greens for a simple and fresh taste.

I just stumbled on your blog.....but your comment about cooked cucumbers made me laugh. You see, just this morning my sweet husband made us a scramble for breakfast. Ina n effort to use up things that were going to go bad, he put cucumbers in the eggs. I saw him preparing them and I said "Cucumbers? " He seemed to think they might cook up like zucchini. I was pretty sure it would not turn out well, but I was just happy to have someone else making breakfast, so I didn't complain!! And yes, cooked cucumbers in scrambled eggs does indeed taste as gross as it sounds!!!!

Hiya :)
That;s a brilliant week for food waste, and as you say, the fresh stuff has become a 'resource' anyway; it's only a bit of chicken that was actually landfilled.

Well done you - I think you will soon be celebrating a zero waste food week!
