This was another not so good week, as you can see. Starting from the top right:
-a bowl of taco meat
-some leftover french toast batter(is that what you call it? It seems thin to be called batter!)
-leftover chicken salad(I did eat a LOT of that for lunches…I just made too much in the first place)
-some brown rice(left from when I made Hibachi Chicken and Shrimp),
-a partial bunch of green onions
-some broccoli
-a cucumber that wasn’t even touched(!)
-some pesto
-a partial bottle of picante sauce
I’m particularly annoyed with myself about the cucumber. I’m ashamed to say how many cucumbers have perished in like manner while residing in my veggie drawer…I seem to forget about them way too often. I really need to rummage through that drawer on a more regular basis. I tend to put it off, not wanting to see what squishy, drippy, moldy things are growing in there. If I just wouldn’t put it off in the first place, there wouldn’t be any stuff in there that to gross me out.
The Picante sauce and the pesto have been hanging out in the very back of my fridge, so I’m not surprised that they started to mold. Out of sight is out of mind and that’s exactly why I need to keep a neater, cleaner fridge.
Cleaning my fridge each week is sort of like declaring bankruptcy(only on a much smaller scale! :p)…it’s a chance to turn over a new leaf. My fridge is clean, my leftover containers are piled high in my cabinet, and I’m freshly inspired to do better(especially after two not so good bad weeks).

OK, I’m starting to feel better now.
I’m procrastinating on cleaning out my fridge and cupboards. I thought, “It might be fun to do a food waste picture a la The Frugal Girl,” but then I realized I usually have so much that I end up filling up my trash can. By the way, is there a place other than a blog for us to share our photos–like on your Facebook page or a Flickr group?
Kristen, you must be so pleased with your food waste progress over the last couple of years. You’ve come a long way since photos like this. I’ve been following your blog since January of this year and my own food waste has been reducing due to your inspiring examples. Thank you
